We had an amazing stay at the Cat's Pajamas! The cottage had everything we needed and more. We stayed for a week for our honeymoon, and brought our 14 month old chocolate lab Sage along. She had an amazing time as well. Loved exploring Port Renfrew, and then coming back to a quiet, cozy place to stay.
We stayed three nights at the end of a long touring stay of BC and Alberta. This is a wonderful cottage. We slept two adults, plus two kids on the sofa bed. Cosy, but the furniture and fixtures were of such comfort and quality that we didn't feel squashed. Even during a power cut, Handsome Dan didn't let us down, with a great selection of tea lights and a torch. Would recommend for couples rather than families, especially if you are not used to a tiny british house normally! If you have 2+ kids, book a 2 bed cottage!
The area of around 150 cottages is really lovely. Be aware that you are a half tank of gas/petrol from the nearest filling station BUT that the Port Renfrew dock sells fuels in summer season!
Local things not to miss: Lizard Lake, Fairy Lake and the amazing hidden waterfall and crawl through caves at Botanical Beach. If you like fishing, you could probably make this into a week stay. Do be aware that the rainforests can obliterate a clear sky (and a promising sunset) at times, but just as easily a foggy morning can turn into a 30 degree heatwave in 20 minutes :)
Really tranquil and laid back area; had a great time.
After trying a number of locations over the last two years we have found the perfect cabin. It has everything you need for a quiet get away. Secluded up on a knoll in the rainforest, with a massive deck, this is a great place to stay. The local pub is also full of local friendly staff and residents. We enjoyed playing a couple of hours of pool...then, back to the cabin to finish our books and sleep in one of the most peacefully, quiet cabins on the island.
We just got back from a weekend stay at the Cats Pajamas! What a wonderful way to have all the amenities of home in a newer cabin and yet be so close to nature and all the tranquility Port Renfrew has to offer. The deck on this cabin is one of its best features. What a great place to gather with friends or have coffee for two under cover in the rain being warmed by the patio heater. It far exceeded our expectations! It was very cozy for 2 adults, just the right amount of space and maybe for the addition of a child. We wish we would have brought our dog to this great place. So nice to have the option to do that in several of the cabins! We can't wait to come back and maybe try one of the waterfront cabins for a different view but would love to stay in Cats pajamas again in the summer and spend ALOT more time on the deck!
Had a great stay here -- cozy, well equipped, very clean and well set up. Loved the outdoor heater and table - under the eaves. great idea. Only comment is there is no tv cable - did not bother us - but miight bother some.
