Read here what our guests have been saying about Handsome Dan’s http://handsomedans.ca/testimonials/. Five minutes of walking from the cottages will get you to the Pacific Gateway Marina if you’re going fishing or if you want to take in the sea air. Tomi’s Diner and The Coastal Kitchen Café are both within a five minute walk away and have good food if you get tired of cooking on your own. The pub at the Port Renfrew Hotel is maybe a 10-12 minute walk away further down the road past the Coastal Café – it also offers good food, a nice pub atmosphere and an outdoor deck to take in the local sights on a sunny day. You can get a few basic groceries at the Real Goods Market (open in season only) next to Tomi’s dinner. A bigger selection of groceries including beer, wine and liquor can be bought at the General Store on Parkinson Road (open from 11am-7pm everyday), which is about a kilometer away back down the highway towards Victoria. It’s a good idea though to stock up on groceries on your way to Port Renfrew in either Sooke or Cowichan Lake, depending on which direction you are traveling from. Of course everyone takes credit cards, debit cards and that ancient currency, cash.

Four of us (3 sisters + 1 bro-in-law) stayed at Quail's Roost for 4 nights to mark my daughter's wedding in Port Renfrew. Gorgeous views of sun, incoming rain, forming clouds, fishermen in the bay (some of them from our party, picking up crab!). Eagles at eye level. The area is stunning - we walked Botanical Beach Loop Trail - the Pub has great food. This kitchen is extremely well equipped. Lots of room for hosting guests. And the best sofa bed I have ever slept on! Kudos!!
Super facility with family amenities offering spectacular views of San Juan/Pacific Northwest area, would stay again for sure!!
Had a fantastic 4 day stay. Cabin is well setup for us to enjoy the views, relax, and cook our catch(s)
Our group of 6 adults enjoyed a two day get-away to Port Renfrew. We found the accommodation was first rate, with a gorgeous view. The facilities and kitchen in particular had pretty well all we needed to cook and be comfortable - made us feel very much at home. We enjoyed visiting the Juan de Fuca Provincial Park beaches and other sites in particular the Avatar trees. We hope to return soon.
We were awarded the opportunity to be the first guest at Quail’s Roost. This was our first visit to Victoria, and we found a magical place. We hope that Port Renfrew will keep it it's unique charm”. Will always remember the peaceful view from Quail’s Roost balcony,
