Avatar Grove… and Canada’s gnarliest tree is an amazing thing to see and finding it is half the fun. Located only a short 20 min drive north of the little town of Port Renfrew,BC. Dubbed Canada’s Gnarliest’s Tree this mammoth cedar will surely leap from the unknown to the feature of millions of tourist photos in the coming years.
Avatar Grove is a 50 hectare area of old growth forest that has shot to prominence in this part of the world and groups everywhere are embracing it as something to be saved, admired and loved.

Avatar Grove is located about 20 min drive from Port Renfrew. Follow the direction link below. Parking is right along the side of the road
Hike Description:
Wooden stairs and a boardwalk have been constructed with a viewing platform at the base of the Gnarly Tree. Hike along the moss covered forest floor underneath the canopy of the largest trees in Canada.
The Upper Avatar Trail will lead you directly to the Gnarly Tree, while the Lower Avatar Trail, on the opposite side of the Gordon Main road is a circle loop that will lead you through the ancient forest past trees that are almost as Gnarly as the big tree. Both are short hikes that will take the average hiker 15-20minutes.
