It’s common to get your limit of Salmon & Halibut.

The fish you'll find in Renfrew

SALMON: Season usually starts Early May to Mid Sept with the first runs of larger Chinook in the 20-30 lb range.
COHO: Season usually start in July to end of Oct. This area is know for it’s run of larger than average Coho,usually in late Sept. Anglers also enjoy fishing Coho right off the beach come Sept & into Oct.
HALIBUT: Season usually start in April & the season typically runs into late fall, but weather plays a big factor in getting to the Halibut grounds.
SMELT FISHING: can be enjoyed off the beach. Many folks set their nets & enjoy a picnic while waiting for their bounty.
CUT THROAT: Our river estuaries have excellent sea run Cut Throat using flies & spinners.
STEELHEAD: The San Juan, Harris Creek & Gordon rivers enjoys a strong run of Steelhead throughout the winter months.
CRAB: Best crabbing is in late spring & early summer.

Fishing License

A fishing license is required. Licenses can no longer be purchased in Port Renfrew. Be sure to buy and print a copy of your license.
You are required to have a printed copy of your license with you at all times while fishing.

Pacific Gateway Marina

Pacific Gateway Marina is the nearest marina to Handsome Dan’s Cottages. Only a 5 minutes walk down the staircase from the Cottage Community. Or if you prefer, you may use the road access. For moorage or any other information about the Pacific Gateway Marina,

Port Renfrew Marina is located at the southern end of the West Coast Trail. PLEASE NOTE: First come, first serve — No reservations. Cash only. There is an ATM for your convenience. Marina store selling fishing supplies, snacks, hot food, ice, and the only gasoline sales in Port Renfrew. Call (250)-483-1878
