On the lower level, a covered slate patio is perfect for your morning coffee or afternoon read. Finally, walk down the cedar tree steps to the cliff-side lower patio, which offers unequalled views and a fire pit for a night time marshmallow roast under the stars (fire wood and stars included). The lower two patios are accessible from stairs outside the cottage or through the two bedrooms on the lower level.
Five minutes of walking from the cottages will get you to the Pacific Gateway Marina if you’re going fishing or you want to take in the sea air. Tomi’s Home Cooking and The Coastal Kitchen Café are a five minute walk away if you get tired of your own cooking. The pub at the PortRenfrew Hotel is about a 15 minute walk.
You can get a few basic groceries at the Real Goods Market (open in season only) next to Tomi’s dinner. A bigger selection of groceries including beer, wine and liquor can be bought at the General Store on Parkinson Road (open from 11am-7pm everyday). It’s a good idea though to stock up on groceries on your way to Port Renfrew in Sooke or Cowichan Lake if you are travelling from the other direction. Of course everyone takes credit cards, debit cards and that ancient currency, cash.

A family getaway weekend, there were seven of us in the cabin and we were very comfortable. Beautiful décor and amazing views from the deck, very well stocked with most things you would need. Perfect location for day trips to explore Port Renfrew, went to several beaches and Avatar Grove. The area is beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better weather. We would have loved to stay longer and hope to be back. Thanks for all your help France.
Kudos to my husband, he found this fabulous place!! Communication with the hostess was awesome!! My husbands parents were coming in from Mississippi and wanted to plan something special. This place was big and clean with a gorgeous view off the deck. Kitchen was well stocked with spices, rice, pasta, oil, foil, coffee, etc....
Great place for the wives to lounge around while the guys go fishing. We checked in late Thursday, around 745pm.. Everything seems to close early the 1 store in town and restaurants. So luckily I bought some meat to grill and a salad and thankfully the kitchen was stocked with rice and pasta.
My in-laws are looking forward to our next vist next year and hopefully we can bring home another 100+ lbs. of salmon!!!
Hello Dan. It would seem I owe you an apology. I was positive when I received my confirmation cleaning was listed at $ 250. Reading the amount charged to my card today I see that it read $ 125. My sincere apologies and I hope you will post this email to reviews as well. We very much enjoyed our stay and plan to come back in the fall. Thanks for everything.
Beautiful cottages, beautiful setting, Beautiful views, Hard to believe places like these exist in tiny Port Renfrew. Worth the trip for sure., We will be back
This was our second stay at Wickham's Wake having stayed there at Christmas with family. We had guests from Ontario and thought it would be the ideal way to show them BC life. And it was. Accommodations are wonderful with every thing you need. Décor is beautiful and you cannot beat the deck overlooking the water. We bought fresh crab from fishermen on the dock and went to the pub for dinner. A little busy ( 45min wait) but well worth it. Tv and Wifi are a bit iffy but that was something we could do without. The only concern we had was the cleaning fee. We were four adults and we left the house as we found it. All that was left to be done were linens and bathrooms and for $250 I could have done that myself. It is a bit much considering the rates. However it was still the best places we have stayed on the Island. and we have tried them all from Tofino to Victoria. Would definitely recommend this spot in Port Renfrew. Expensive but beautiful.
